Problems February 3, 2008

Filed under: Baby — urnn @ 5:26 am

He had a scheduled vaccine injection with his doctor on 1st February. She is such a good doctor who saw him since birth. The only problem is that she is too busy to see him and he can only see the doctor in her team.  So this is the opportunity for her to see him for the first time since we left the hospital.

She said we fed him too often and asked me to put him down when he cried. I did and he stoped crying. the doctor told me to raise him in reality not raise him how I think I should or project my own problem or bagguage into him.  he might be too hot, too cold, too wet not just hungry.

Then she took a look at him and saidd he has this oily patch on his skin and forehead. he must find it itch becuse this patch block the pore and he can not sweat. that is why he develop acne on his forhead. She showed me how to remove it with vasaline and my baby seems to like it (after the fight) and looks clean.

She said the reason he might rubed his face to me may be because he itched rather than he was hungry. Again i misunderstood him and fed him, hence the 2 hours feed routine.

Now I know and follow her advice strictly.

One month old February 3, 2008

Everything was fine up until 25th january when he was one month old.  I went out and gave food to the monk for him in the morning and then took him to the hospitle around 9am,. The reason was he had been spitting up milk pretty often recently right after meal and sometime even an hour later. This is not on!

The doctor took the ultrasound scan to check if he has anything block his stomuch/bulb which cause the projecting puke which sometime happened. but he has not got anything like that. So it was down to reflux.

The doctor gave him the pill for colic for after breakfast and dinner. He doesn’t like it and once he started using it the symptom became worse. So I decided to stop on the second ady of trying.  And hold him physically after every feed for an hour with his head high. Work with gravity.

We fed him too often, every 2 – 2.5 hours are too often. But we didn’t kow that until another visit to anther doctor.  She said he (or any children) should only be fed every 3-4 hours or he will spit up the old milk that has not been digest plus the new milk that overflow the stomach.  Make sense. Mummy’s fault.

I felt so guilty for doing so but what cause me feeding him that often I wonder?

Not a good start of the first month…….

Second week at home: cordless February 2, 2008

Hooray! the cord finally came off. I saw it happened and ket the cord safely.  This week is the same as last wek, lonely but at the same time so damn happy to be with him.

Have to go to see the doctor to get my stitch out. My sister is looking after him for me.  Hello? where’s my wound?  he is an angel doctor with the neat wound and no complication what so ever.  Rush back home straight away to be with him.   Turned out he slept through the whole time I was out.   Good boy.

First week at home; second week of life February 2, 2008

The first week passed by with me feeling like a single parent. Husband went back to work in Hong Kong and I am stucked here on my own. Not quite on my own but with my family helping behind the scene.

I developed fear of cord, fear that it will get an infection, fear that I can not clean it properly. I asked my aunt to call about 2 doctors to come and check it out to see if I’m doing everything correctly and the cord is in good order. I thought it only take 5 days for it to fall of but with him it seems to take a lot longer than that.

I also asked my sister to bath him and helped me develop the routine. Of course we have no facility as the hospital so we have to establish where to put the bath tub and where to dry him. Just  my lucj the hot water in my room stoped working so we had to do it all in my sister’s room….
